Grinch or Santa?

I think having the idea or lessons over Santa Clause and different
Christmas stories in the class room is good for the students because
students should know about the different varieties of how other
countries celebrate Christmas, they also get an example of the importance
of family and generosity from the giving of presents and the long periods
of time spent together with family, last but not least they can experience the
feeling of giving to others.

American Teacher

After watching the movie, American Teacher my view on being in the education field changed a little bit, i'd still like to pursue teaching but seeing the struggles they faced made me realize that its not as easy as it looks. The biggest frustration I think for the Teachers, is the pay. They dont get enough money for what they do.

                                                        Eric Benner, Teacher.

Some ways that could better the conditions for teachers are paying them more for what they actually do, the hours they actually spend in the class and out of class grading papers, etc. My only question about the movie was, Will the pay for teachers go up within a few years?

Procrastination..

Even though there is a lot of ways to Overcome Procrastination, it is very hard too. Procrastination is when you put off work until another day or usually until the day before it is due. It can mess up your work schedule very badly and make your progress in your future work horrible.

I myself procrastinate a lot, and its a habit i have been trying to get rid of but once you have the habit its very difficult to break. Its not uncommon to procrastinate but when you do, my advice it to try and break it ASAP.

If I could change education, I would...

If I could change education, I would change the way that it is taught and i would make easier ways of learning for different types of people. The drop out rate is very high and i blame it on the way education it taught and the importance of schooling, people who drop out can still get pretty good jobs and i have expierence with that because my boyfriend dropped out his Sophomore year and he has a pretty good job now I just think we should make it harder to get jobs without a diploma.

People that have disabilities should have it easier in school to get the exact same education that "normal" children get. Changing the classes and lessons to fit every child's needs, not individually but altogether.

My FIrst Day As a Teacher..

My first few days at Holiday Heights, was fun!

My mentor is Judy Hooper, Im interning in Mrs. Hoopers Second grade class. Im going to be helping the kids with reading, writing and many other activities. Being there so far is a lot of fun, i already love all of the kids there. They look up to me and they want me around them the whole time im there. haha. The hardest part is saying no, Im going to need help telling them no. Also they all want me around them and i have to divide my time with them. Im looking forward to being there twice a week, i wish i could go more. Im ready to be a teacher though.

Social Smarts

By reading, Social Smarts, showed me how i need to be smart about being online and it helped me realize that a reputation is very important, having a bad rep makes me people judge you and makes people not want you around. I know i few people that ruined their rep by doing drugs and other things that were not smart and it made people think differently of them. They fixed it by showing people they could change.

Technology Today

From the article, A Tale of Two Worlds: Old School, New School, I thought it was trying to say that the world is advancing very quickly and the younger generation is adapting to having technology for everything. The younger generation is able to work and use this new technology more than adults can because its new to the older generations and the younger ones are being born into it, soon technology will take over everything.

Social Media

After finishing the article, An open letter to teens: Social Media, my views of safety on Facebook, Twitter, etc. changed.  I think that people need to be more aware of what could and most likely will happen if they put their personal information online.  In this era, it is so much easier and simpler to find information about you, or other teens on the internet. Knowing how to be smart about what you put online is a "skill" every teen needs, think about reducing the number of teens that become abducted and or raped, does that sound good? I think so. Facebook and other online social networks are fun, but let's keep them safe!
